DYI Wind Power Maybe ???

   Happy 4th of July everyone,

Now beings I'm starting on this getting off the Grid thing again, I am
going to try something in the wind power category.

A few years ago I bought a older motorhome and just parked it, only paid 300.00
for it, a guy I worked with needed money.

Now I have taken the home part of it and turned it into a chicken shed so now I have chickens
to go in my winnibago, but as I was doing the change over I pulled the onan generator out of it
and got to thinking on how I could use it.

In live in NM and we still have windmills here, new and used. I want to try and rig something up
that will make this work and ease my electric bill.

If you have suggestions, such as rpms for generator, or the right gearbox as a reducer or multiplier
go ahead and put them in the comments, sure would like some ideas.

Not What I Thought

Times change, and if we don't change with them we will break or be broke maybe just bent. I haven't been working  on this Green Living for a while I had to get a different job and guess where I went, right to the Oil Fields in NM.
Work slowed way down a couple of years ago and so I had to make a choice, work on this green thing or work to buy food, food won out, I've had the habit of eating a long time.

I seen this electric car thing and if you have time to fool with it or maybe you have already seen it or done it, you could let me know in the comments.

I will try getting more done again, but this oil field takes up a lot of time.
After I get all done with my garden I will  have time to do some more building.

Telsa Generator and the big Electric Companies

In your heart, you know there’s got to be a better way. A way to finally drive the electric company out from your home… and not pay another cent on electricity ever again.
For the first time in almost a century, the answer to free, unlimited energy is here. And no… it’s not solar panels… and you definitely won’t have to pay tens of thousands of dollars to use it.
In fact, this device is so easy to build… all it takes is $100 and a trip to the local electronics store to have everything you need to make your own!
But you won’t hear about it in mainstream media… and you won’t see it featured on TV. It’s a secret so big… it had to be locked away for 90 years, for fear it might destroy the Big Energy establishment. The genius who invented it, Nikola Tesla, had to pay a dear price for having the "nerve" to take on the big players.
It all started in 1934… Read more about Tesla Generator

Is Solar Power getting Cheaper

Solar Energy Collecting as an Alternative Energy SourcePhotovoltaic cells—those black squares an array of which comprises a solar panel—are getting more efficient, and gradually less expensive, all the time, thanks to ever-better designs which all them to focus the gathered sunlight on a more and more concentrated point. The size of the cells is decreasing as their efficiency rises, meaning that each cell becomes cheaper to produce and at once more productive. As far as the aforementioned cost, the price of producing solar-generated energy per watt hour has come down to $4.00 at the time of this writing. Just 17 years ago, it was nearly double that cost. Solar powered electricity generation is certainly good for the environment, as this alternative form of producing energy gives off absolutely zero emissions into the atmosphere and is merely utilizing one of the most naturally occurring of all things as its driver. Solar collection cells are becoming slowly but surely ever more practical for placing upon the rooftops of people's homes, and they are not a difficult system to use for heating one's home, creating hot water, or producing electricity. In the case of using the photovoltaic cells for hot water generation, the system works by having the water encased in the cells, where it is heated and then sent through your pipes. Photovoltaic cells are becoming increasingly better at collecting sufficient radiation from the sun even on overcast or stormy days. One company in particular, Uni-Solar, has developed solar collection arrays for the home that work well on inclement days, by way of a technologically more advanced system that stores more energy at one time during sunlit days than previous or other arrays. There is actually another solar power system available for use called the PV System. The PV System is connected to the nearest electrical grid; whenever there is an excess of solar energy being collected at a particular home, it is transferred to the grid for shared use and as a means of lowering the grid's dependence on the hydroelectrically-driven electricity production. Being connected to the PV System can keep your costs down as compared to full-fledged solar energy, while at once reducing pollution and taking pressure off the grid system. Some areas are designing centralized solar collection arrays for small towns or suburban communities. Some big-name corporations have made it clear that they are also getting into the act of using solar power (a further indication that solar generated energy is becoming an economically viable alternative energy source). Google is putting in a 1.6 megawatt solar power generation plant on the roof of its corporate headquarters, while Wal Mart wants to put in an enormous 100 megawatt system of its own.Nations such as Japan, Germany, the United States, and Switzerland have been furthering the cause of solar energy production by providing government subsidies or by giving tax breaks to companies and individuals who agree to utilize solar power for generating their heat or electrical power. As technology advances and a greater storage of solar collection materials is made available, more and more private investors will see the value of investing in this “green” technology and further its implementation much more.

Cap and Trade Bill may be Expensive

I have been doing a lot of reading, trying to get a handle on this
Cap and Tax bill, so as to define the real costs to us, American Families.

The results went from 175.00 year or .02% of our yearly income, to,
7000.00 per year. But this study that was done was for the year 2020.

I would dearly love to believe the 175.00 theory, but common sense
tells me that is way low. I also believe the 7000.00 could be high, or at least I hope so.

We as innovative Americans, need to be prepared for the worst possible
scenario. We can help ourselves and our neighbors if we want to.

How about we have a look into the future on your egg thing
that you buy in the morning for breakfast on the way to work. The
cost now 2.50, I am just using a number here, you can put in your
own when you start figuring the costs.
Now the farmer that is growing
feed for those chickens has to irrigate his fields, and to power his pumps
he is using electricity. The grain mill uses power to make the grain into chicken feed.
The chicken grower is using this same type of power
to raise the young chicks to adults, now the egg producing farmer is
using power to feed the chickens, clean the eggs run lights, heaters, and so on.
Okay, we got the egg and now it still has be kept cool and then cooked and served.
By the time this is all done, it is not going to be chicken feed any longer,
(pun intended).

Now I didn't add in all the rising costs on all the other things that go with shipping, storing
and more.
In other words, everything that we consume is going to go up.

I guess I will say it again, start getting more independant from the Power
companies, get your wind or solar power station set up today.
There are good tax breaks invoved.

Use of Windmills Today

I don't know if there is such a record, as to when windmills were put in to use
pumping water, but today they do a lot more than that.

Windmills that power a generator to provide electricity for the home owner
is proving to be popular, not discounting the savings on the power bill. Home owners
are adding this type of green power to lower the costs, and also for Tax deductions. If
a person makes more power than one uses, most power companies will buy the rest,
that is a plus in the green program.

In the near future, our government is going to put into place, the Cap and Tax bill, which
is going to raise the price of our power substantially. These big electric companies
are going to pass on the costs directly to us, the consumer.

Now before this happens, all of us need to decide which power alternative is right
for the area we live in and start building accordingly.

Wind power is one of the cheaper ways to go, but if your place of living has sunshine
in abundance, you might want to look at solar power as your alternative.

Wind Power is something that you can do at home to give yourself relief
from the big power bills.
